# Quick Search

> Spotlight-style search for commits, files, branches, and tags.

Press `Cmd+Shift+F` to open the **Quick Search** modal, a Spotlight-style search across your repository.

## What you can find

* **Commits** by message, hash, or author.
* **Files** by path.
* **Branches** by name.
* **Tags** by name.

Type to filter instantly, arrow-keys to navigate, `Enter` to open.

## Best use cases

* Jump from a large history list to a commit by message or hash.
* Open a file without scanning the sidebar.
* Switch context to a branch or tag quickly.
