Repository AI Chat

Open AI Chat beside the repository workspace to review current working-tree changes, ask follow-up questions, or explain a commit. Commit+ can load one of the ten most recent commits or resolve a commit hash, branch, tag, or HEAD reference before asking the selected provider for an explanation. Repository AI uses bounded, read-only Git context instead of scanning the repository indiscriminately. If the selected provider or underlying Git context changes while a request is running, Commit+ rejects the stale response. See AI assistance.

AI-assisted conflict resolution

Use Resolve all conflicts with AI from the conflict workspace to resolve and stage supported text files with the selected AI provider. Commit+ checks every generated plan before applying it, rejects changed or unsafe files, and leaves binary or non-UTF-8 conflicts for manual resolution. When repository context is not enough to choose safely, Commit+ asks only for the ambiguous decisions. Select an answer for each question, then apply those answers to complete the remaining files.

Explain a commit from History

Right-click a commit and choose AI Explain This Commit to open Repository AI with that commit’s metadata and bounded patch. The explanation focuses on intent, behavior, and risks that may matter during review.

Improvements

  • AI Chat now lives in a dedicated resizable right-side panel, and its width is remembered on this Mac.
  • Toolbar shortcuts are managed from a compact popover. Run actions from the list or pin up to four favorites to the toolbar.
  • Commit context menus now include action icons, and right-clicking an unselected row selects the intended commit before showing its actions.
  • Sidebar scroll indicators appear while the sidebar is hovered or scrolling, then move out of the way when they are no longer needed.
  • Cloud and on-device AI providers now share the Repository AI and conflict-resolution workflows, including OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, and Apple Intelligence.

Safety and reliability

  • AI conflict resolution validates that each file still matches the context sent to the provider before writing it.
  • Generated conflict results must resolve every conflict block, contain no remaining conflict markers, and pass Git’s whitespace checks before Commit+ stages the file.
  • Repository AI rejects empty results and responses generated from stale working-tree or commit context.
